Oak Child’s chair

When my son was born, I crafted an oak chair for him—a solid piece of furniture to last a lifetime. However, he was a robust and energetic boy, and the chair bore the marks of his enthusiasm.

For my daughter’s first birthday, I decided to make another chair, this time from the same piece of oak. While the wood was the same, the design was entirely different. For my son’s chair, I’d carefully cut all the pieces square, but this time, I opted to save some effort by using ready-rounded rods. I also experimented with angled legs for added strength, though achieving perfect balance proved challenging.

Despite my struggles, the chair has been a hit. At just 18 months old, my daughter adores it. She drags it around the house to sit and listen to stories, tuck in her dollies, and so much more. It’s a joy to see her love something made with so much care.
