Recycled and upgraded olive barrels, bought from Bunker Hill Nursery can be used for both planters and water butts. I have used mine for the latter. You can buy taps to drill in, but water butts are not expensive, and you run the risk of leakage. Trying to keep my garden as self-sufficient and environmentally friendly as possible, I opted to buy solar pumps. These are fitted to the water butts and my greenhouse. The barrels are filled by water running off the greenhouse, and then the pump provides water to drip feed where it is needed most. Works well and the fruit thrive. Great upcycle of the barrels.
