Wooden wine boxes were probably my first exploration into upcycling. I loved the character and natural wood. My father had a few and I persuaded him to part with them. Later I visited a wine shop and persuaded them to give me some more for free, placing a donation in their charity box. I have had the ones in this picture since life as a student in 2003.
They have become multipurpose pieces of furniture; from TV tables, to footrests, bookcases or laundry baskets, filing systems and food storage, and so much more! Every time I moved as a student, I would turn the boxes over and fill them to move. Amazingly practical. They are still in use today, as a bookcase.
Zero work, great look, infinitely practical.
