Chateau post box

Chateau wine box and varnish can post box (www.coolupcycled.com)

We had a rather tired postbox.  It upset me every day.  To make matters worse the lock popped out.  One afternoon I decided to upcycle it using a chateau wine box.  I screw the wood into the side and front.  The first version had a lovely wood knob to open to get the mail and a wooden flap.  However, the knob was not secure, and the wooden lid came off my new hinges!

Variation two of the post box is not as nice, but it does the job.  The lid is made from an empty varnish tin with some copper studs.  I replaced my wooden knob with a combination lock.

The downside is the weather causes the wood to expand and can cause difficulties closing.  Work in progress on this one…
