Every now and then I have a rash idea. This log fruit tree arch was one. The wood was left over from when I cleared the area, I didn’t follow any great plan. As a good boy scout, I knew how to lash and proceeded to lash to sides together. It had a middle and two ends. Stupidly I didn’t make the structure anywhere near its final resting place, luckily a neighbour came to help. The uprights were cemented into the ground and then cross roof beams held the two sides apart. The lashing was with string. I was then able to train a peach, nectarine, green gauge and apricot up. It makes a nice addition to the garden and hides the compost bins. I look forward to the fruit!
