Pallet scrabble letters

One of my favourite games has always been scrabble. Not because I am good at spelling… far from it! With our new baby, we have been looking at decorating a nursery and I have been thinking of fun ways to make it different. Having already made an oak chair and a pallet toy box forContinue reading “Pallet scrabble letters”

Raspberry raised beds and supports

You can’t beat raspberries, I find them tastier than strawberries. To provide the perfect growing conditions I used some reclaimed scaffolding boards to create a raised bed and some added heat. Rasps can grow high and scraggy, so some old fenceposts were screwed for height and some pallot boards and wire to brace. It’s doneContinue reading “Raspberry raised beds and supports”

Pallet potting table

Apparently I’m a messy gardener. In defence, I think it is down to not having the correct configuration. With this in mind, every year plastic pots, compost and chaos ensued around potting time. This year it would be different. A couple of old pallets were bolted together. Some left over kitchen work-surface out to useContinue reading “Pallet potting table”

Reclaimed timber planters and wheelie bin store

Not unlike my toy box, this epic project started as a cleaning exercise.  It was a nice day and I was looking out on the carcass of some pallets the long planks removed for planters.  I really hate wheely bins, and our sizeable front drive was a horrible car park.  I really wanted some sleepersContinue reading “Reclaimed timber planters and wheelie bin store”

Reclaimed pallet cat and mouse toy box

At some point last year, I was sent to the shed, my work room, to tidy.  It had descended into chaos… again.  Normally, because I lack storage, and must work around stuff. It wasn’t long before I picked up some pallet off-cuts, got distracted, and made a box like structure with legs— but no topContinue reading “Reclaimed pallet cat and mouse toy box”

Pallet bird house

Last summer I set off to clean the shed and somehow found myself making a bird house. Not the first time I have been distracted from cleaning my hobby workspace. The bird house was a simple design of six small lengths of pallet wood screwed into place.  Once the front and back facing pieces hadContinue reading “Pallet bird house”

Socket protector wooden box

We are expecting our first baby in a couple of months.  As you would expect from a house full of homemade things, my wife and my mother, have concerns about babies crawling around.  One passing comment from my wife were the multitap adaptors used for TV, lights etc. that we seem to have in nearlyContinue reading “Socket protector wooden box”

Pallet compost bins

I like using recycled pallets to make things for the house and garden. These four compost bins were made using the sturdier euro pallets.  I dug a square trench, lined with recycled plastic sheet to try and prevent rotting, inserted holes for drainage, and after coating in some leftover fence paint, I placed the palletsContinue reading “Pallet compost bins”

Pallet planters

My wife kindly helped start my pallet journey with a course on how to make pallet planters. These are amazingly practical and versatile planters for the garden or allotment.  I make them in two lengths and they are really designed around the wood taken from a cut up Eurolight pallet. No waste! The large planterContinue reading “Pallet planters”

Pallet planter course

Many things I discovered through trial and error.  However, some things I was taught.  My wife, as a present, bought me a community pallet planter making course.  Run through the community programme Cultivate Oxford I have used this as the basic template for all planters since. It was a fun day out, even although weContinue reading “Pallet planter course”
