I have written before about my scaffolding garden benches. A pair of scaffolding tables were made at the same time. These were early upcycling creations and their flaws have created rustic charm. When we moved into our new house, my wife was keen for garden furniture, refusing to buy, I set to work with reclaimedContinue reading “Reclaimed timber garden table”

Upcycled pine wardrobe
We welcomed a new member to our family a few months ago. After months of debating a jungle animal theme was chosen for the nursery. Creative fun was to follow! Some pine furniture was handed down several times and been saved, on numerous occasions, from the skip. It is actually quite nice, just a bitContinue reading “Upcycled pine wardrobe”
Parquet Dresser
This was one of these epic jobs I wish never to have started. Probably one of the largest. And, I can’t even really remember how, or why, I thought I would try and make this parquet dresser. It began with some reclaimed parquet floor, I had already used some for a small pipe table. ThereContinue reading “Parquet Dresser”
Scaffolding plank wood store with living roof
This project took almost four years until completion… if it can be called completed. When we acquired our house we were forced to clear an overgrown side garden, felling some poor trees to create an orchard and raised beds. With a wood burner and made construction projects, eg fruit tree arch, the logs would notContinue reading “Scaffolding plank wood store with living roof”
Pallet scrabble letters
One of my favourite games has always been scrabble. Not because I am good at spelling… far from it! With our new baby, we have been looking at decorating a nursery and I have been thinking of fun ways to make it different. Having already made an oak chair and a pallet toy box forContinue reading “Pallet scrabble letters”
Raspberry raised beds and supports
You can’t beat raspberries, I find them tastier than strawberries. To provide the perfect growing conditions I used some reclaimed scaffolding boards to create a raised bed and some added heat. Rasps can grow high and scraggy, so some old fenceposts were screwed for height and some pallot boards and wire to brace. It’s doneContinue reading “Raspberry raised beds and supports”
Clay pipe plant pots and wine rack
Our front drive and garden were a bit bleak. Vast and soulless with sharp angles. Too costly and not practical for large changes, I really wanted to soften some of the edges, create a bit of height, depth and colour. Endless searching led me to some six sided clay pipes. Not sure what the wereContinue reading “Clay pipe plant pots and wine rack”
Child’s oak chair
I picked some lovely oak and returned home to plan. With my saw table I cut some small struts from the same wood I would use for the legs. The seat itself was a lovely piece of oak. The wood was sanded. Using a chisel I made holes for the struts in the legs andContinue reading “Child’s oak chair”
Pallet potting table
Apparently I’m a messy gardener. In defence, I think it is down to not having the correct configuration. With this in mind, every year plastic pots, compost and chaos ensued around potting time. This year it would be different. A couple of old pallets were bolted together. Some left over kitchen work-surface out to useContinue reading “Pallet potting table”
Bathroom
We had designed a pretty cool bathroom with lovely tiles and a big shower. However, it was basically a white box and needed some touches to make it interesting. There was a lot of upcycling involved. First to come was a nautical rope to surround the mirror. Which went nicely with an antique ships wheelContinue reading “Bathroom”
